One of the more fun stories from spring training this year was the emergence of Ehire Adrianza as the utility infielder version of Babe Ruth. No, that performance was not and is not sustainable, but the guy played extremely well and seemingly won a bench spot over perennial bench player Johan Camargo who had been expected to handle the utility infield duties going into camp.
However, on the eve of the season, Adrianza had to leave the team to handle some sort of personal business and due to the league’s COVID-19 protocols, that meant that he would have to go back through the screening process before he could take the field.
