ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Luiz Gohara has repeatedly encountered frustration since arriving at Spring Training with high expectations for this season. But the big left-hander has been brought back to the Major League level with the chance to pitch out of the Braves' bullpen.
Gohara was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett before Tuesday night's series opener against the Rays at Tropicana Field. The 21-year-old southpaw will initially stand as a long-relief option. There 's a chance Gohara could work his way into a middle- or late-inning role at some point this year. But the club remains interested in his capability as a starting pitcher.
