Braves predicted to lose $175 million homegrown All-Star to Red Sox in free agency

The Atlanta Braves may be playing an unfortunate waiting game at this point.

After their injury-plagued 2024 season, the Braves are itching to get back on the field next year and prove that they're still among the very best teams in Major League Baseball. But they also may be likely to do so without one of their longest-tenured stars.

Two-time All-Star pitcher Max Fried is a free agent, and the writing seems as if it's on the wall for the Braves to part ways with their longtime ace. Atlanta was able to agree to extensions with all its other All-Star contributors in recent years, but Fried was the notable exception.
