It should not come as a surprise to anyone who follows the Atlanta Braves that reigning National League Cy Young Award winner Chris Sale will take the hill on opening day this season.

Over the weekend, the team announced Sale will be ready to go on March 27 at Petco Park in San Diego when the Braves begin the new baseball season with the Padres.

Sale exceeded pretty much everyone’s expectations in 2024, when he not only made it through almost the whole season healthy but pitched like the dominant ace who was in the running for the American League Cy Young award six times in a row from 2013-2019.
