The Atlanta Braves cleared a 40-man roster spot on Saturday when they outrighted right-hander Chase Whitley to Triple-A. Atlanta now has 39 players on the 40-man roster.
The Braves acquired Whitley off of waivers from Tampa Bay this past offseason. He came to spring training in hopes of earning a spot in Atlanta’s opening day bullpen. However, a staph infection during the spring set him back and he never really has made up the gap.
Whitley has appeared in just one game for Atlanta this season allowing two hits and two runs in one inning of work.
