The Atlanta Braves optioned Tyrell Jenkins to Triple-A Gwinnett after Saturday’s rough outing. The team will make a corresponding roster move on Sunday.
Jenkins allowed eight earned runs in the fourth inning of Saturday’s 11-9 loss to the Washington Nationals. He was tagged for nine runs total in 3 1⁄3 innings of work. He has allowed 16 earned runs in just eight innings over his last two starts.
Atlanta called Jenkins up in late June with the intention of using him as a reliever before injuries and other pitcher’s struggles gave him a chance at the rotation.
