The Atlanta Braves have optioned third baseman Rio Ruiz to Triple-A Gwinnett and recalled infielder Jace Peterson. With Johan Camargo receiving the majority of the playing time at third, the Braves are opting to send Ruiz back to Triple-A where he can see regular playing time.
Ruiz put up a .175/.264/.288 line in 31 games with the Braves this season. Camargo has surged of late slashing .321/.333/.453 and as a switch hitter is an everyday option for Atlanta until the Freddie Freeman experiment begins.
