The Braves took on the Phillies on Monday, and while the offense sputtered throughout, left-hander Sean Newcomb made his best start of the spring. The 24-year-old pitched 4 2⁄3 perfect innings, striking out six and allowing just two balls to leave the infield. It was a truly dominant performance that could vault Newcomb even more significantly into the conversation for a rotation spot in a couple weeks.
