Kevin Gausman allowed four runs over just 4 2/3 innings on Friday in a 5-3 loss to the Diamondbacks. Atlanta left eight men on base and were just 3-for-13 with runners in scoring position for the game. Thanks to a Phillies’ win in New York, the Braves’ lead in the NL East is down to 2.5 games.
With the innings piling up for the Braves’ bullpen, several youngsters could play key roles down the stretch.
Speaking of the bullpen, Jonny Venters discussed his successful 2018 season with MLB.com’s Mark Bowman.
“I’m as surprised as anybody would be, but then again, I feel like this whole year has been a surprise,” Venters said.
