The Braves brought back Chadwick Tromp on a minor league deal after non-tendering him Friday. This isn’t a huge splash, but Tromp is a guy who seems likely to see the majors for Atlanta again this season, as he is a perfectly competent third catcher with minor league options who can come up and do a job to fill in for an injury in the major league catching pair. I am a bit surprised that he came back so fast and didn’t see if he could find a major league deal from someone, as the bar at catcher is so low that I would think that he could at least get a backup job somewhere in the majors even with his sub-par offensive profile.
