Ozzie Albies tied for the National League lead with his 12th home run of the season but Brandon McCarthy struggled again in a 6-3 loss to the Marlins. The two teams meet again on Saturday with Mike Soroka scheduled to make his third start.
Jose Bautista was out of the Braves’ lineup on Friday and MLB.com’s Mark Bowman writes that may be a sign of things to come against right handed pitching. Bautista has struggled against right handers over the last year. Braves manager Brian Snitker wouldn’t commit to a platoon situation but this is something to monitor going forward.
