MLB.Com’s Mark Bowman informed us this afternoon via Twitter that the Braves outfielder Todd Cunningham is now a member of the Angels.
Cunningham was selected by by the Atlanta Braves in the 2nd round of the 2010 amateur draft and signed shortly after for a reported $674.1K. Following that short season Baseball America (subscription required) named him the Braves #20 prospect. The BA scouting reports quotes then Braves Scouting Director Tony Demacio as saying “ . . . that Cunningham was drafted for his bat.” While he had a consistently high OBP throughout his minor league career the power everyone expected to develop never materialized.
