Every move made by a Major League Baseball team can start a butterfly effect, and the Atlanta Braves are perhaps in a position to benefit.
Atlanta was never going to sign first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. in free agency, so when the four-time All-Star reached an agreement on a 14-year, $500 million extension with the Toronto Blue Jays earlier this week, it certainly wasn't Braves news from the jump.
However, the deal certainly affects the Blue Jays' ability to keep their own players around once their current contracts expire, given that Guerrero will be making nearly $36 million per year.
