The Braves announced Monday they’ve hired Chuck Hernandez to be their minor league pitching coordinator.
Hernandez joins the Braves as they’ve added several top pitching prospects to their farm system via trades over the past year. Baseball America says the Braves now have the “deepest group of pitching prospects in the game.”
Hernandez, 55, served as Marlins pitching coach from 2013 to 2015. Hernandez also was the pitching coach for the Tigers (2006-08), Devil Rays (2004-05) and Angels (1992-96). He was a coach in the Angels’ minor-league system from 1986 to 1991 and was a coach in the Rays’ system from 1997-2003.
