Freddie Freeman homered twice, but the Braves lost a 9-7 slugfest against the Nationals in a split-squad Grapefruit League game Thursday at Viera, Fla.
Braves reliever Carlos Torres gave up three runs on a pair of sixth-inning homers by Jayson Werth and Wilson Ramos, but the Braves still led 7-6 until Chris Heisey’s three-run walk-off homer against Braves rookie Ryan Webber.
Freeman hit his third and fourth homers of the spring, including a solo shot off Stephen Strasburg in the first inning. The other was an unsual two-run homer in the fifth off reliever Yusmeiro Petit, which appeared to bounce off outfielder Ben Revere’s glove and over the fence.
