For the second straight year, the Atlanta Braves selected a Wake Forest pitcher in the first round of the MLB Draft. Atlanta selected right-hander Ryan Cusick with the 24th pick in the first round of the 2021 MLB Draft. Cusick 6-foot-6, 235-pound power arm who struck out 206 batters in 158 career innings over three seasons for Wake Forest.
“Cusick is a big power arm right handed pitcher with a really good curveball. His [fastball] velocity has been as high as 101,” said Braves scouting director Dana Brown when asked about the pick.
