The Atlanta Braves made the acquisition of Tommy Milone official with an announcement Sunday morning. As expected, Atlanta will send two players to be named later to the Baltimore Orioles to complete the trade. To make room for Milone on the active roster, the Braves designated Matt Adams for assignment.
The Braves acquired Adams shortly before the season after he was granted his release by the Mets as insurance for Freddie Freeman. Adams struggled to get on track at the plate batting just .184/.216/.347 with two home runs in 51 plate appearances.
Adams had seen less playing time of late with Marcell Ozuna seeing more opportunities at DH after the return of Ronald Acuña Jr.
