Following his start on Monday in Tampa versus the Rays, Atlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker announced that the team had designated starting pitcher Mike Foltynewicz for assignment. In a corresponding move Atlanta will add Chad Sobotka to the roster.
Foltynewicz tossed 3 1/3 innings in his start but allowed 6 runs on four hits. He gave up three home runs and walked three batters in the outing.
Snitker told the media that Folty had been big for the Braves in recent years and the pitcher was "getting after it." Something just hasn't been working for Foltynewicz.
"We're not in a position right now, in this shortened season, to wait for something to happen," Snitker said after the game.
