Earlier today, the Braves claimed first baseman/outfielder Christian Walker from the Orioles. (See MLB Trade Rumors and Mark Bowman of Braves.com.)
Hailing from Norristown, Pennsylvania, Walker was drafted in the 49th round back in 2009, but instead went to go play ball at the University of South Carolina. After winning two College World Series (and appearing in a third) for the Gamecocks, he was drafted by the Orioles in the fourth round of the June 2012 draft.
As a minor leaguer with the Orioles, he’s mostly played first base, though got in some reps in left field this most recent season.
