Braves call up Emilio Bonifacio, option Chris Withrow to Gwinnett

As expected, the Atlanta Braves made a roster move on Sunday calling up utility player Emilio Bonifacio from Triple-A Gwinnett. To make room for Bonifacio on the roster, Atlanta optioned right handed reliever Chris Withrow.

The Braves had carried a 13th pitcher throughout the early part of the season to combat some of their early pitching struggles. With Saturday's rainout and a scheduled off day coming up on Thursday, the team elected to add another right handed bat to the bench.

The Braves signed Bonifacio to a Major League contract during the offseason but designated him for assignment on the last day of spring training.
