Independence Day wasn’t kind to the home team at SunTrust Park and, 24 hours later, a similar result fell on the Atlanta Braves. For the second straight night, the Houston Astros scored in double-figures and, in short, that was not a recipe for success in a 10-4 defeat.
The evening began in ominous fashion, with Jaime Garcia allowing three singles in the first four batters as the Astros took a 1-0 lead. From there, it was radio silence on both sides until the fifth frame, when the fireworks started in earnest.
Houston produced four hits, including two doubles, in the fifth inning and the end result was a three-run outburst keyed by the bat of Josh Reddick.
