Sept. 23 (UPI) -- Atlanta Braves outfielder Adam Duvall appeared to hit his 40th home run of the season, but the hit was ruled a single due to an odd base-running error during a win over the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The peculiar play occurred in the top of the first inning of the 9-2 triumph Wednesday at Chase Field in Phoenix.
The Braves led 1-0 when Duvall stepped in to face Diamondbacks starter Merrill Kelly with teammates Freddie Freeman and Austin Riley on base.
Duvall smacked the first pitch he saw, a 91.
