The Atlanta Braves activated Drew Smyly from the 10-day injured list Saturday, and the left-hander was expected to start immediately against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
To make room on the active roster, infielder Sean Kazmar Jr. was optioned to the Braves' alternate site. Outfielder Cristian Pache also was reinstated from the injured list and sent to the alternate site.
Smyly, 31, was placed on the IL on April 16, retroactive to April 13, because of left forearm inflammation. He had no record and a 5.73 ERA after his first two starts of the season.
