Atlanta Braves starter Brandon McCarthy exited Wednesday’s game against the Nationals early after suffering an injury to his non-throwing shoulder while taking a throw at first base. McCarthy exited after allowing four hits and one run over five innings with Atlanta in front, 2-1. Sam Freeman came out to pitch the sixth.
McCarthy suffered the injury while reaching back to field a throw while covering first base.
