SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Savannah native Carter Holton is headed to the big leagues. The 2021 Benedictine graduate was drafted 62nd overall by the Atlanta Braves Sunday night.
Holton is coming off his third season at Vanderbilt and was the 69th overall prospect heading into the MLB Draft. Holton threw in 15 games in 2024 for the Commodores, going 6-5. In 69.1 IP, Holton struck out 98 batters.
In three seasons with Vanderbilt, Holton went 18-10 overall with a 4.09 ERA. He complied 251 K to 80 BB.
The lefty will be sent to any of the Braves’ affiliate organizations, most likely to a single-A affiliate.
