Mar. 17—The Minnesota Twins optioned Pottsville graduate Travis Blankenhorn to their minor-league camp following Monday night's 5-1 loss to the Atlanta Braves.
Blankenhorn played in nine of the Twins' 14 games during spring training, batting .100 (1-for-10) with a run scored and eight strikeouts. He struck out in his lone at-bat in Monday's loss to the Braves.
As he did last season, Blankenhorn will begin the season at the Twins' alternate training site in St. Paul, Minnesota. He'll most likely start the season at Triple-A St. Paul, which begins its 2021 campaign May 4 at Omaha.
