Autopsy says baseball pitcher died of cocaine-alcohol overdose (AFP)

Los Angeles (AFP) - Former Major League Baseball pitcher Tommy Hanson died last month at age 29 from an overdose of cocaine and alcohol, according to autopsy results released on Friday.

Hanson died on November 9 at an Atlanta hospital a day after being found unresponsive. A coroner originally ruled the death as accidental.

But the autopsy report states Hanson's official cause of death was from "delayed complications of cocaine and alcohol toxicity".

Hanson, who was staying at a friend's house and had been drinking alcohol, was found by a woman and authorities were called. Hanson had slipped into a coma and suffered "catastrophic organ failure".
