Lucas Sims entered Thursday’s game as one of a small group of pitchers competing for one of the final bullpen spots on the Braves’ Opening Day roster. That opportunity may have gone up in smoke after a rough outing in which he allowed four hits, four walks and six earned runs in just three innings against the Cardinals.
Atlanta is reportedly getting close to a decision on the Opening Day roster and is reportedly considering two options. One would have them carrying six outfielders and the other would be three catchers. The six outfielder option seems to be the more likely scenario and would be good news for Ezequiel Carrera and non-roster invite Danny Santana.
