I’m going to admit it: I had a merry ol’ time making fun of the previous Diamondbacks regime and their extreme lack of judgment in agreeing to the deals that brought Dansby Swanson, Ender Inciarte, Aaron Blair, and Touki Toussaint into the Braves fold. I’m sure that you did, too. However, with persistent rumors that the Braves are looking to be very aggressive this offseason, Dave Cameron of Fangraphs suggests that the Braves should look at their victims from last offseason as a caution sign for trying to open the “Win Now” window too early.
And even if we gave them Chris Sale, without subtracting any significant major league players from their roster, they’d realistically be looking at a 76 or 77 win projection heading into 2017.
