Aaron Blair was mostly excellent and Gwinnett held off a late rally to defeat Charlotte 4-3. Blair’s line is a bit misleading as he pitched 7, 2-hit shut-out innings. Then the Braves batted around and after what amounted to a 40 minute or so inning for the Braves, Blair was sent back out in the 8th while sitting on 87 pitches. That, plus the bullpen allowing an inherited runner to score, hurt Aaron’s overall line but he was fantastic beyond that.
Gwinnett scratched together just enough offense to get things done with a homer from Michael McHenry as well as contributions from up and down the lineup.
