A strong start from Bryse Wilson wasn’t enough for the Stripers, as the offense only produced one run on nine hits and lost 2-1. Gwinnett jumped out early into the lead in the second inning thanks to Travis Demeritte, who led off the inning with a triple and then scored on an RBI ground out from Pedro Florimon. Despite the best efforts of Demeritte, who had three extra base hits in the game, Gwinnett stranded a runner in scoring position four times out of the final seven innings and couldn’t scratch out a run. For awhile it seemed like the strong play from Wilson would be enough to lead them to a win, but Charlotte got two runs in the top of the seventh and suddenly Gwinnett was left trying to play catch up.
