Aaron Blair made his return from the disabled list, but the offense struggled in Ozzie Albies’ absence and Gwinnett fell to Norfolk 4-3. Blair had not pitched since 5/26 due to a recurring blister issue that has plagued him for a good portion of the season. The injury was painful and, in particular, made throwing his slider particularly problematic. It is likely that his early exit from this game was due to a pre-existing pitch count (was right at 50 pitches) than anything else. The bullpen was largely excellent in the game, with a sole blemish being an earned run in the top of the 8th off of Rhiner Cruz that proved to be the winning run.
