Gwinnett’s piecemeal pitching staff of relievers kept Gwinnett in the game for a while, but Indianapolis pulled away late to beat the Braves 6-4. With the All-Star break coming up, Gwinnett opted to use a bunch of relievers as opposed to a starter. Evan Phillips (three earned runs) and Rhiner Cruz (two earned runs) struggled in their appearances while Dan Winkler allowed a run in his rehab appearance. AJ Minter, on the other hand, got back to doing AJ Minter things and pitched a scoreless inning of relief. Given the injuries and struggles of the Atlanta bullpen, it is possible that he could make his MLB debut sooner rather than later.
