The game got off to a great start as Acuña took the first pitch of the game and deposited it in left field. Two batters later - Rio Ruiz rushed his 12 homer of the season to right center field and Aaron Blair found himself up 2-0 before taking the mound. That 2-0 lead did not last long as the first batter that Blair faced hit a solo shot to lessen the lead to 2-1.
