The Braves bullpen was tested with some late inning drama, but in the end, they managed to finish what rookie John Gant had started. Meanwhile, the newly-found Braves’ bats got to Matt Harvey with enough extra-base and 2-out hitting to hold down the Mets in Game 1 of their weekend series, 5-1.
Gant was brilliant against his original team – going 6-2/3rds innings with excellent control, excellent pitch mixing, and… excellent pitches. The Mets were off balance the entire evening, save for a lead-off double by Curtis Granderson.
