The Atlanta Braves head into the 2017 season looking to move a step closer to respectability and eventually contention. Rebuilding this once proud franchise has been a long and sometimes grueling process. To understand where the Braves are going however, you need to first look at where they came from.
Atlanta won 94 games in 2012 and 96 in 2013 while taking the NL East. Then GM Frank Wren built a team that amassed 190 wins in two seasons however coming at the expense of the team’s future. With a stripped down minor league system and several big name players inching towards huge paydays, the Braves were nearing an inevitable crossroad.
