On Wednesday, David O’Brien reported that Australian sidearm reliever, Peter Moylan, is retiring from the majors. The now 40-year-old spent 9 seasons in the Atlanta Braves bullpen and became a fan favorite and loved teammate throughout the years.
He pitched for the Braves on 3 different stints, breaking into the majors with the club in 2006 and stayed there until 2012 and then returning in *2016 and 2018.
The path to the majors was not the easiest path for Moylan who actually started in the Minnesota Twins system. He was eventually released and actually had to go back to Australia and take a pharmaceutical sales job while trying to improve himself as a pitcher.
