The Atlanta Braves built their draft strategy around selecting more college and junior college players to fill the gap left when they lost 13 prospects in last year’s scandal.
Perhaps the Braves signed a higher percentage of picks this year than last because of that strategy. Maybe the Braves old front office team simply scared off prospects with their tactics last year. Whatever the causes may be, the first Alex Anthopoulos draft successfully inked 84.6% of prospects selected.
The ratio of pitchers to position players selected remained above 55% as it has every year since 2014.
