The 20-year-old right-hander from North Vancouver made just three starts this season for the University of Oregon before arm trouble relegated him to the sidelines. Maier had internal brace surgery to stabilize the ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in his right elbow in April and expects to start throwing again in the coming weeks.
