ATLANTA – The Atlanta Braves on Wednesday became the only publicly traded franchise in Major League Baseball.
Atlanta Braves Holdings was available for trading on Nasdaq after shareholders of Liberty Media, the franchise’s former parent company, approved a split making the two organizations into separate publicly traded entities.
The Braves’ stock, which includes the franchise and an Atlanta real estate development known as “The Battery,” where the team’s Truist Park is located, is listed under “BATRA,” “BATRB,” and “BATRK.” Atlanta Braves Holdings was trading at $44.11 as of Thursday afternoon.
With its Nasdaq listing, the Braves become the only MLB team to be publicly traded.
