ATLANTA, Georgia (WDEF) – The Atlanta Braves will celebrate Native American Heritage Month with a new event highlighting Cherokee history and culture at Truist Park.
Cherokee traditions at Truist Park will happen on Saturday, November 27 from 11:30 AM to 4 PM.
It will feature Cherokee dance, artisans, living history demonstrations, storytelling and a stickball exhibition.
The event is free and family-friendly.
The baseball club has engaged with the tribe based in North Carolina and Tennessee as an antidote to the pressure they have faced to change the “Braves” name that some consider racially insensitive.
