The Braves have been hit harder than almost any team in the league with injuries, but Alex Anthopoulos provided a positive update on three key players during an interview with The Athletic’s Jeff Schultz on Monday.
According to Anthopoulos, the team is “optimistic” starting pitcher Mike Soroka could return to the mound by late August. After undergoing surgery for a torn Achilles last August, Soroka was shut down six weeks ago during his rehabilitation efforts and underwent another surgery to clean up discomfort in the heel area. We can only hope the young righty can put the injury behind him, but my confidence level in Soroka being able to return this season and make an impact is, unfortunately, not very high.
