We are less than five hours away from Wednesday’s 4 p.m. trade deadline and a flurry of activity could occur around the league. The Atlanta Braves picked up what they hope will be a key bullpen piece in a trade Tuesday night acquiring right-handed reliever Chris Martin from the Texas Rangers in exchange for Kolby Allard.
Braves General Manager Alex Anthopoulos talked with reporters, including the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Gabe Burns after that deal was announced and touched on several topics but didn’t go into specifics about what we should expect on Wednesday. For the most part, Anthopoulos echoed something he has said since taking over in Atlanta’s front office which is if there is a player out there that they like and the acquisition cost makes sense, they will pursue it.
