The Braves wasted a ton of opportunities in tonight’s contest against the Phillies, but Ozzie Albies and the pitching picked up their teammates en route to a 3-1 series-evening victory in Philadelphia. Albies hit a solo homer and scored all three Atlanta runs in support of Brandon McCarthy and an effective reliever chain, pushing the division lead back up to 1.5 games.
This was the fourth round of the Brandon McCarthy-Vincent Velasquez prizefight, and much like the other three rounds, the Braves came away victorious. Unlike the other three rounds, however, this was a much closer contest, full of frustration, nail-biting, and ultimately, catharsis.
