ATLANTA -- Ronald Acuna Jr. appears ready to provide Nationals outfielder Juan Soto competition in the battle for the National League Rookie of the Year Award.
Acuna continued his second-half surge when he opened both games of Monday's doubleheader with home runs. The first homer sent Atlanta on to a 9-1 win over the Marlins at SunTrust Park. The second put the Braves on the board in the nightcap against Miami right-hander Merandy Gonzalez.
"He's just real confident and on the attack," said Braves manager Brian Snitker, who has seen Acuna hit .
