Did you remember that the Atlanta Braves opened the season with three catchers on the Opening Day roster?
The Braves signed Chris Stewart to a major league contract prior to Spring Training to add some depth and experience behind the plate. Stewart brought a good reputation as a receiver behind the plate and the Braves were hoping that he would end up accepting an assignment to Gwinnett where he would be able to work with some of their young arms.
Stewart was given one of the final two roster spots as the team trimmed its roster for Opening Day.
