The Atlanta Braves are undoubtedly in a transition phase in 2015, although GM John Hart insists that the team are playoff contenders with their current roster construction.
With a few breaks and some solid performances that could be true, but what if the Braves struggle out of the gate and fall behind the Washington Nationals and retooled Miami Marlins?
If that scenario takes place, Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe says that the team could put closer Craig Kimbrel on the market by the trade deadline in order to get both younger and cheaper going forward:
"Executives we have spoken to believe GM John Hart will be enticed to deal the elite closer by the trading deadline if the Braves struggle in a tough division in which the Nationals and Marlins could be very good."
This is all mere speculation, especially with over a month to go till the team actually gets to work in Spring Training. But, it's a possibility looming out there if the Braves aren't able to keep pace out of the gates in 2015.
