It's still early in free agency, which means everyone is talking about the big name options. Players like Johnny Cueto, Zack Greinke and Alex Gordon are dominating the hot stove and for good reason. Those are big-time players and they'll command big bucks. However, there are other players who aren't getting quite as much love that will help a team next season. The Atlanta Braves are unlikely to spend a lot on free agents since they are rebuilding, but they could sign another player or two. With that in mind, here are 3 Free Agents No One Is Talking About That The Braves Could Sign:
Mat Latos, SP
Latos will be cheap and is still just 27 years old. Latos has his issues and struggled last season on a few different teams, which is why there isn't much noise surrounding him. However, there is the chance he could rediscover his old form. He was a great pitcher for the Cincinnati Reds a few seasons ago. This would be a one-year flier signing. Plus, if he starts strong he could be trade bait and the deadline.
Matt Thornton, RP
Thornton has already been linked to the Braves and it makes some sense. He won't be expensive and although he's a veteran he'd help out the Braves. The 39-year old lefty won't be a long-term option or be anything more than specialist, but he would fill a role. Like Latos, there's the chance the team could flip him before the deadline if it wanted.
Ben Zobrist, 2B
Everyone is talking about Zobrist, but not much has been said about Atlanta being a possible destination. However, Ken Rosenthal did briefly link him to the Braves. This seems unlikely, because the Braves won't spend a lot on a veteran. However, it could happen.
