Emiliano Marintez’s former mentor Neil Cutler is in discussions with Wolves to become the club’s new goalkeeping coach.
With Tony Roberts’ departure to AC Milan set to be formalised imminently, Wolves are looking for a replacement and have identified Cutler, who left Aston Villa last October, as a strong candidate to succeed him.
Cutler’s four-year association with Villa ended last autumn when Unai Emery replaced Steven Gerrard and chose to bring in his own man, Javi Garcia, to take charge of the goalkeepers.
That was a blow not only to Cutler but also to Martinez, who described him as the ‘best English coach by miles’ and that football had been ‘unfair’ on his friend.
