Aston Villa have confirmed the appointment of former Brighton coach Colin Calderwood as assistant manager.
The former Villa player and Nottingham Forest manager, 51, quit the Seagulls on Friday, leaving his role as Chris Hughton's number two.
"When I heard Colin was interested he shot to the top of the pile," Villa boss Steve Bruce told the club website.
"We interviewed two or three people but once I knew Colin was available there was only one person I wanted here."
Speaking after Friday's 1-1 draw between the two sides, Hughton told BBC Sussex: "It has been agreed for Colin to go to Aston Villa and he is free to go.
